MIMO-PLC Communications in an Experimental Medium Voltage Network: Measurement and Analysis

This paper presents measurements at a mock-up medium voltage network to verify the feasibility of Broadband Power Line Communication (BPLC). We use data extracted within frequency range 2 − 30 MHz characterize MIMO PLC using different phase combinations, defining best and worst case scenarios. The empirical shows that not only phases directly connected for input-output can be used, but also we exploit coupling between transmit receive data, therefore creating dynamic which will depend on characteristics power grid. By making transmission line theory, demonstrate how mitigate reflections by measuring input impedance allow better bandwidth available BPLC operation.
